La Pastorella

Charlotte Church: La Pastorella

Venita, o passagiero
La pastorella e qua
Ma il fior del suo pensiero
Ad uno sol dara! Ah.

English

I am the beautiful shepherdess,
who descends every morning,
and offers a basket full of
fresh fruit and flowers.
Who comes on the first harvest
will have nice roses
and very good pommels
come to my garden.
I am the beautiful shepherdess,
who descends every morning,
and offers a basket full of
fresh fruit and flowers.
Ah.

which during the frightened night
the right way is lost,
in my shelter
you will find the fireplace
come, oh passer-by
the shepherdess is here,
but her inner thoughts
will only be given to one!
Come, oh passer-by,
the sheperdess is here,
but her inner thoughts
will only be given to one!
Ah.

My Favorite vidoes

ColdPlay, Scientist

I LUV this song. I was really amazed when I saw the video for the first time on vh1 when I was 10.

Chris Martin(the bands lead singer) spent a month learning the song backwards so if you ever hear it, it sounds kind of spanish but all he is doing is saying all of the words backwards. So the director filmed him singing the song backwards and walking forwards. Then the actual video is played backwards so it loks like he is walking backwards and singing the song forwards. Hope that helps, and makes sense to you.

U2, Window In The Skies

This video is awsome, and the song really goes.

Feature Artist: Brandi Carlile

I downloaded Brandi Carlile's single "the Story" on itunes today. It was a free single of the week. I didn't think I would like it, but HEY it was free! So I got it and listened. I was blown away. I couldn't belive it was free, because I actually liked it!

At first I thought it was just another "LOVE" song, but as it went on I fell for the sound AND Vocals. The way this singer peices together her vocals is definitely an aquired taste. Some (like people I will not name in my family) might not think she can sing, but in my book anyone who can make cracks on purpose like that and smooth it over so it actually still sounds presentable CAN sing. Her voice reminds me alot of Stevie Nicks, with alittle more waggles and cracks ( that's how I would describe it). The guitar in the song is very rocky. And she is classified under rock, folk, alternative, and country rock.
I heard some of her other stuff and I really liked it. vist Brandi's Offical Site

Brandi grew up in the moutains in Washington, in litrally "The Middle of No Where". "Ravensdale wasn't a town," she says. "We were the only house around for acres and acres. Being in the middle of nowhere, it wasn't the kind of place you brought friends back to, so I just hung around the woods and built forts and played music with my brother and sister. That's all we did. And we thought that's what everyone else in the world did, too."
she learned to sing listening to Patsy Cline(below left), a country singer. Listen to Pasty Cline
Brandi started playing the guitar at 17, but was learning piano in her earlier teens. One day her Mom took her to proform on a local radio show. She formed a band with twin brothers Tim and Phil Hanseroth (below).
Brandi has taken her time rising to fame. She used to dream of proforming on Grand Ole Opry, a weekly Saturday night country radio broacast on WSM in Nashville. She began proforming in Seattle, where ever she could, playing the rock songs she'd wrote. She's a big inspration because she didn't start playing guitar till 17, so I'm not late in the game..REALLY, I'm not. And she's opening for some big names, like Train. So if she can do it, so can I..and You.
So check her out.

Put Your Records On

Put Your Records On
By Corinne Bailey Rae

Three little birds, sat on my window.
And they told me I don't need to worry.
Summer came like cinnamon
So sweet,
Little girls double-dutch on the concrete.

Maybe sometimes, we've got it wrong, but it's alright
The more things seem to change, the more they stay the same
Oh, don't you hesitate.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

Blue as the sky, sunburnt and lonely,
Sipping tea in the bar by the roadside,
(just relax, just relax)
Don't you let those other boys fool you,
Got to love that afro hair do.

Maybe sometimes, we feel afraid, but it's alright
The more you stay the same, the more they seem to change.
Don't you think it's strange?

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

'Twas more than I could take, pity for pity's sake
Some nights kept me awake, I thought that I was stronger
When you gonna realise, that you don't even have to try any longer?
Do what you want to.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

Oh, you're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow

Featured Artist: Norah Jones

I got Norah Jones NEW CD "Not To Late" a month ago, and I loved it! It was a little differnt from what I've heard her sing before, but I can listen to it over and over. I really do like her voice. Her stuff is sorta jazzy, and very classy. She plays piano, and writes her stuff ( which i love about any artist). Her songs are very relaxing, like Corinne Bailey Rae's.
At first when I heard about Norah Jones, i thought her voice was good, but I didn't like the slow pace of the music. But as my musical taste have evolved, I've grown to enjoy slower paced music (such as blues, folk, and slower classical peices), you really get the full flavor of the music, and what the song is trying to say this way.
Norah Jones grabbed several Grammys at the 2003 Grammy Awards, 4 years ago. I think she's done very well so far in such a short time. I really like the song "Sunrise" it is a beautiful song, and makes me want to go and live by the ocean and get up early to see the sunrise.
Norah is a little something different in a world of pop teen singers.

Amazing Grace

Okay I got this at http://www.gmajormusictheory.org/Freebies/Primer/pAmazing.pdf
This place has a lot of music (that isn't undercopy right!) Everyone knows how to play Amazing Grace, but I just thought I'd post it here any way for a first song to post. I love this song, but i hate it when people sing it for like a funeral. I mean it's called "Amazing Grace", it's not a sad song, at least i don't see it as one. So put some viger into it when you play , cause your not dead, yet.
